Aston Welcome’ begins with the International Orientation week (2 weeks before the start of the autumn term) for new International and European Union students. This is followed by Freshers’ Week (the week before the start of term) for all new students. The full programme of events usually goes live in late August.

Aston Welcome is designed to orientate students in their first year and those new to the University. The weeks include induction activities to make ensure students are ready for their first day of teaching. It also provides a valuable opportunity for students to find their way around, to start to make friends and to help ensure the best possible experience for their time at Aston.

The timetable for the week will vary from programme to programme. There will be some University wide events such as introductions to central departments like Sport Aston, but some events will be specific to the programme that you direct. It is worth bearing in mind that the welcome week is an important opportunity to  build programme  identity  and  the Programme Director normally leads or has significant input into the programme of events along with the School’s Timetabling Officer.
