Professionalisation of staff is cited as one of the central pillars of the University’s Learning and Teaching Strategy. Thus, it is the University’s expectation that all staff that teach, either in a School or provide learning support at the University, will continue to be involved in a meaningful peer observation scheme.

The Associate Dean for Learning and Teaching (ADLT or equivalent) for each School is ultimately responsible for ensuring each member of teaching staff is peer reviewed. At the start of each academic year, the ADLT (or equivalent) will communicate the need for peer observation to be organised and this process will be overseen in the different subject areas by the SGL/HSGs. Involvement from the Programme Directors happens in relation to Module  Reflections and the Annual Review Report in a way that data from the peer observation process also inform the review. For more information see the Monitoring and Review section below.
